Baby teeth in dachunds?

is it true if my puppys baby teeth did not come out that it will hurt her in the long run.

Baby teeth in dachunds?
Yes it will hurt them in the long run. The adult tooth will crowd in with the baby tooth and if the baby tooth does not come out on its own or is not removed then it will push the adult tooth out of allignment, often inward toward the tongue which will cause it to hit the roof of the mouth if its a bottom tooth or towards center of the bottom jaw if its an upper tooth. This is very painful and could cause infection and damage to the mouth. Tartar would also build up between the two crowded teeth and cause infections and periodontal disease in that area.

Ultimately if the baby tooth is left in place for an extended period you would probably end up having to get the adult and baby tooth removed. Usually if there is a baby tooth that has not come out by age 6 months (which is when many vets will spay or neuter them) during the spay/neuter the vet will remove them with your permission, which is definitely a good idea- that way you can save the adult tooth. It is usually the canine teeth that have that problem but it can occur with other teeth, and it is more common in small breed dogs, but can occur in cats and larger dogs as well.
Reply:The teeth should be pushed out of the way by the permanent teeth, just like human children, bu they usually aren%26#039;t left with a hole. If they don%26#039;t or you are not sure if they have or not, have your vet check her mouth. Puppies very seldom lose the tooth without the new one being right there.
Reply:my puppies teeth came out and they didn%26#039;t hurt her cuz when they fell out there was another tooth under it so it won%26#039;t hurt her and they do grow back!
