I%26#039;d like to know two things:
1. I have been reading on answers that some people, when they get their teeth extracted there is a little piece of the tooth left in their gums because the root was broken. Can that possibly happen to me, when they are extracting baby teeth, or can that only happen with adult teeth?
2. When they give you a shot to numb your gums, where exactly do they apply the shot and how much does it hurt?
Please give me some tips before I get theme extracted, I%26#039;m kind of scared.
I%26#039;m getting a tooth extraction of two baby-teeth?
You may end up with a little piece of tooth left behind, but it is pretty unlikely because with baby teeth the roots are already starting to disappear due to the adult tooth pushing from below. For this reason, baby teeth are usually very easy to remove. Before you have an injection (shot) you usually get a numbing gel put on the area first and you should feel almost nothing. You will get a miniscule dose of anesthesia due them extracting baby teeth. You will be in very capable hands so try to relax, maybe wear your IPod or hold someone%26#039;s hand. Hope this helps!

Reply:Just relax , when i needed braces i needed 4 teeth removed and i was fine.
The injection is to numb your tooth so u wont feel it when it is getting pulled out. The baby teeth that will be removed will help the peremant teeth grow.
You may not be able to eat for 3 hours later until the injection wears off but it is nothing to be worried about.
Reply:i don%26#039;t know much about the first question but i%26#039;ve had 10 teeth pulled and the shots are just applied to an area around the teeth that are being extracted...i could only feel the first 2 or 3 and it was just a little pinch for me...but its really not that big of a deal

Brushing baby teeth?
is it necessary that we use flouride in the toothpaste? we typically have our family on organic products and i can%26#039;t seem to find any organic toothpaste for a 1 year old that contains flouride. (the adults and older children do not use organic toothpasts, as i feel that the need for good clean strong teeth outweighs the benefits of organic toothpaste) or does anyone know of an organic baby toothpaste with flouride?
Brushing baby teeth?
First of all, anyone who says that fluoride causes cancer is a complete and total knucklehead.
Second, a 1 year old should not be using fluoride toothpaste. You can either use any non-fluoridated toothpaste or just water. If you have fluoride in the water, that%26#039;ll be enough for a 1 year old. If your water is not fluoridated, ask your pediatrician about supplements.
Reply:No, do not use floride toothpaste until the child can spit it out and not swallow it.
Reply:It%26#039;s not advisable to use tooth paste until the child can expectorate or spit the paste out after brushing. Children tend to like the taste and will swallow it, then they ingest too much fluoride in their systems which isn%26#039;t good for them.
Just use a tooth brush with warm water, or a wet wash cloth and wipe the teeth. The main reason there is rampant decay with babies is when they are given a bottle at bedtime with milk or juice. Both of these can cause decay since they are full of sugar that works with the bacteria making an acid that does it%26#039;s damage being left on the teeth overnight during times when there is reduced saliva production, while the child sleeps eight hours or so. So always use a water bottle at bed time and make sure that you either wipe or brush the teeth well before bed to remove any sticky plaque.
I wouldn%26#039;t concern myself with the fluoride tooth paste right now, there is probably sufficient fluoride in the water. Just make sure to do a thorough check of the teeth daily and get your child involved in the habit of good oral hygiene for a lifetime of good dental health. Here is a site for Tom%26#039;s toothpaste that has fluoride free toothpaste and information on their products. Hope I%26#039;ve been of some help and good luck!

A few questions about baby teeth?
I have tried look up this information on the internet but there seems to be a lot of conflicting information.
1. Do molars fall out?(I thought they did but I have read things that say they don%26#039;t)
2. I have braces, if teeth were to try to fall out with the braces what would I have to do?
3. Can %26quot;baby teeth%26quot;(sorry I don%26#039;t know the correct term) just fall out without having another tooth behind it?
4. What is the average time that an adult tooth would show up in an x-ray before it would break skin?
Thanks in advance!
A few questions about baby teeth?
1. Permanent molars (6 years old molars and 12 year old molars) do not fall out, but baby molars do (that is where your permanent premolars will come in.
2. If you get a loose tooth with braces, you should see your orthodontist and have them take the bracket and wire off that tooth, so that it can fall out freely, without being hung on the bracket and wire.
3. Yes, baby teeth can fall out without having another tooth behind it. Some people are missing permanent teeth (just not born with them) and the baby tooth can fall out and no tooth come in behind it. An xray can tell you if a permanent tooth is under there.
4. All adult teeth are visable on an xray, even before they are ready to start coming in, so depending on the tooth and the age you are, is when you can expect for it to come in.
Hope this helps =)
Reply:Molars don%26#039;t fall out on purpose.
They are pulled if necessary. If you have braces on baby teeth, the orthodontist knows from x-rays about when your teeth should become loose and will take the bracket off that teeth, otherwise, you shouldn%26#039;t have brackets on any baby teeth.
Yes, baby teeth can fall out wihtout having another tooth behind it.
There really isn%26#039;t an average time but I%26#039;m guessing around between 9-11.
Reply:For your additional question:
Baby teeth (aka primary teeth) can still fall out even without having a permanent teeth beneath it because primary teeth have significantly smaller roots than permanent teeth. Their retaining power isn%26#039;t as great. In addition, their enamel is thinner, making them more prone to decay.

Breastfeeding and baby teeth?
From what I have read you are supposed to brush or wipe off baby%26#039;s teeth after nursing...do you do this every time they nurse? What about when they fall asleep for the night nursing? I think my son is on the verge of cutting his first tooth and I%26#039;m trying to get an idea of what most people do!
Breastfeeding and baby teeth?

(No. I don%26#039;t wipe my daughter%26#039;s teeth after nursing. Is there really somebody who does that?)
Always question breastfeeding %26quot;help%26quot; that would have you do something you wouldn%26#039;t find women doing 100 yrs ago, that you wouldn%26#039;t find in other species. Nursing is a pretty perfect process when left unfussed with; see esp the last part below.
%26quot;It%26#039;s often said that breastfeeding (particularly while lying down at night) will cause tooth decay, just like letting a baby sleep with a bottle of milk can cause %26quot;baby bottle mouth.%26quot; Essentially, a valid link has not been made between nursing (nighttime or otherwise) and cavities.
Before the use of the baby bottle, dental decay in baby teeth was rare. Two dentists, Dr. Brian Palmer and Dr. Harold Torney, have done extensive research on human skulls (from 500-1000 years ago) in their study of tooth decay in children. Of course these children were breastfed, probably for an extended length of time. Their research has led them to conclude that breastfeeding does not cause tooth decay...
Breastmilk also contains lactoferrin, a component in breastmilk that actually kills strep mutans (the bacteria that causes tooth decay). According to a recent article in the March/April 1999 issue of Pediatric Dentistry, %26quot;It is concluded that human breast milk is not cariogenic.%26quot;
In a study done by Dr. Torney, no correlation was found between early onset (%26lt; 2 yrs) dental caries and breastfeeding patterns such as frequent night feeds, feeding to sleep, etc. He is convinced that under normal circumstances, the antibodies in breastmilk counteract the bacteria in the mouth that cause decay. However, if there are small defects in the enamel, the teeth become more vulnerable and the protective effect of breastmilk is not enough to counteract the combined effect of the bacteria and the sugars in the milk. Enamel defects occur when the first teeth are forming in utero. His explanation is based on quite a large study of long-term breastfed children with and without caries.
According to this research, a baby who is exclusively breastfed (no supplemental bottles, juice, or solids) will not have decay unless he is genetically predisposed, i.e.. soft or no enamel. In a baby who does have a genetic problem, weaning will not slow down the rate of decay and may speed it up due to lack of lactoferrin.
Much research indicates that it%26#039;s the other foods in baby%26#039;s diet (rather than breastmilk) that tend to be the main problem when it comes to tooth decay. The 1999 Erickson study (in which healthy teeth were immersed in different solutions) indicated that breastmilk alone was practically identical to water and did not cause tooth decay - another experiment even indicated that the teeth became stronger when immersed in breastmilk...%26quot;

Reply:if he falls asleep, let him sleep. it can be hard to get em back to sleep, i know. just brush or wipe his gums in the morning or when he wakes up, he%26#039;ll be just fine:)
Reply:I%26#039;ve never done that, and I%26#039;ve never heard of it. Like Babies Uber Alles posted, breastmilk actually protects the teeth against decay. I use a soft baby toothbrush on my daughter%26#039;s teeth (4 of them), but only because she eats 3 meals a day of solid foods. If she were still exclusively breastfeeding, I wouldn%26#039;t even think of it.
Reply:No, I never did that when we breast fed, but with formula you should. Will my son (now almost 11 months) after a night bottle, I do wipe his mouth out, even if he is sleeping. I have a wet rag ready and I just do it. He only has 6 teeth, so it is easy But as for breast feeding, I remember waking up with milk dripping everywhere, lol, so no you don%26#039;t have to with the breast.
Reply:I only brush his teeth after he eats solids. Breastmilk isn%26#039;t formula, it doesn%26#039;t pool on teeth. You don%26#039;t need to brush unless he%26#039;s has something else solid to eat.
Reply:You don%26#039;t have to do this everytime but you should. To those that said breast milk protect the teeth that is false. Breastmilk same as formula has sugars in it. Anything that is not a neutral pH causes the bacteria found on the teeth to produce acids that attack the enamel. Baby bottle decay can come from breast or bottle (even if breast milk is in the bottle). The position babies lay in when they feed and the fact that they don%26#039;t clearly swallow all the fluid in their mouths is what causes the fluid to pool around the newly erupted teeth. If you notice it can be an hour since a baby has ate (from breast or bottle) and you can still see some milk in their mouths. Just simply take a washcloth and wipe out their mouth and teeth. It also helps to let baby have some water after drinking milking to clear out the mouth and help neutralize the pH again. Everytime our mouthes eat something sweet it takes 20-30 minutes before the pH returns to normal.

Anyone's baby have peg teeth?
what causes it? is it only baby teeth? is it hereditary? is it an indicator of mental abilities? I%26#039;m freaking out b/c 7 yr old stepson has them %26amp; has %26quot;special needs%26quot; and now my 9 month old baby who is teething looks like her teeth are coming in pegged. Everything else about her development is normal to above average.
Anyone%26#039;s baby have peg teeth?
as far as I know, it is not a indicator of mental abilities, just happens to be a coincidence with your stepson
Reply:You should try googling it or using a site such as medline they come in helpful in these situations. I would take him to the dentist right away to check to be sure.

Why have my baby teeth not fallen out yet?
I have 2 adult canine teeth still waiting to come out and alas my baby teeth are too stubborn to leave. (upper teeth)
Why have my baby teeth not fallen out yet?
They may never come out... LEAVE THEM.. until a dentist has reviewed your case.
Some people will never lose them, due to there is no %26#039;permanet%26#039; tooth above it, to push it out. X%26#039;rays.. will tell them if something is up there or not. If there is a adult or %26#039;permanet%26#039; tooth there.. most likely its out of align and cant get out, something is in the way stopping it. This happens alot in people with crowded teeth.
Your dentist can tell you the reasons in which this is happening, either way. Ask him.. from that point on, he%26#039;ll give you the options you need or can take from there!
Reply:because your onlt 6 years old!
Reply:my husband is 47 and still has a few of his baby teeth.. they never havew fallen out. Might be genetics.. his mom had baby teeth she never lost either. Talk to your dentist... you may need to have them pulled so the adult teeth can come in. I had to have that done with a few of my teeth when I was about 13.
Reply:You neglected to mention a very importnat pice if information. Your age. Go back to first grade and ask in a few years.
Reply:Because you are too young..... Mine prob didnt all fall out until I was 11 or 12
Reply:The dentist might have to yank them out. That is what happened to my sis. SHe said it kinda hurt but it was okay.
Reply:Some baby teeth never do fall out, probably hereditary. Go to the dentist and have xrays to see if you have adult teeth to fill the spots.
Reply:There are several genetic conditions that would cause the baby teeth not to leave. Go and see your dentist, he/she can help you.
Reply:There could be a couple reasons.
1. Your canines maybe congenitally missing.
Is any one in your family missing those teeth, it is genetic??
A dental exam with specific xrays of those areas will show if
indeed those teeth never formed. It is quiet common but
unless you are looking for that anomaly you would never know
2. They also could be impacted inside your palate in witch case
an xray also would show that. Then your dentist will advise
you the best way to bring then down.
3. You could just have lazy canines that may need some help
by your dentist to remove them.
In what ever scenario your dentist can tell you the best was to
manage it.
Hope this helps you..

Does getting baby teeth pulled hurt?
Hi,
Im getting 3 baby teeth pulled today because i have 3 adult teeth growing over them and they have no rrom to gorw and i was just wondering... Will this hurt?will the needle hurt because thats what he%26#039;s going to give me..im kinda scared and i really dont wanna go! =[
Does getting baby teeth pulled hurt?
Baby teeth aren%26#039;t rooted as deep as your adult teeth so the pain won%26#039;t be as bad as that. The novacaine needle will feel the same regardless, if you receive novacaine. But even after they are pulled, it shouldn%26#039;t be as sore the next few days because again, they aren%26#039;t as deep rooted, therefore less nerves are affected.
Reply:If they are wrigling they wont hurt as much as if they are stuck hard. My sister had this happened where the adult was pushing behind (not directly) but the tooth wouldn%26#039;t move (it was abnormally long, like twice length of normal one) Ask your doctor if this is the case (it will hurt more)
Baby tooth pulling soreness goes away in less than 3 hours.
Adult ones are sore for much longer! I had 2 pulled yesterday. =[ I%26#039;m sure 3 baby teeth will be ok. Relax.
You%26#039;ll barely feel the needle
Reply:Not too bad. The needle prick may hurt, depending on your pain tolerance. During the extraction you will feel a lot of pressure, not a whole lot of pain though.
Reply:after the needle... it wont hurt at all.
i dont think it%26#039;ll hurt that much cause its baby teeth anyways...
the needle will feel a bit.. pinchy... but it%26#039;ll be painless after that..
the recovery is a different story though ahah but that just depends
Reply:I had two towards the front pulled out, Numbing needles always hurt a lot for me but that%26#039;s just my experience, if possible, ask your doctor if they can laughing gas you, I%26#039;m pretty sure my dentist offered that but I decided against. I don%26#039;t recall any pain after but there was a fair bit of blood.
Reply:no ull be fine!
Reply:You might feel 1 little pinch during the numbing and then it should feel numb from there on. Baby teeth do not have much root left and come out very easily. If you are nervous you might request some nitrous oxide gas to help calm you and not care about what they do.
Reply:I had to do that too.i had nine teeth pulled all together...but not ALL at the same time.
When they use the needle it kinda hurts like a pinch or a scrape but it wont be to bad cuz that will numb your mouth and then when they pull your teeth it will be fine it wont hurt.
If you dont mind your gums being numb then you really have nothing to worry about.
hope everything goes fine :)
Reply:Well, I just got a baby tooth pulled this morning at the orthodontist when I was getting my braces put on, and it didn%26#039;t hurt at all. I didn%26#039;t even get any novacaine or anything. Thry just pulled it out. I didn%26#039;t feel anything. I got it pulled for the same reason your getting yours done - the adult tooth is growing in in front of it. I don%26#039;t know how the needle feels because like I said, I didn%26#039;t even have ANY numbing agent whatsoever. If those baby teeth are already kind of loose they may just give you a local anesthetic which involves no needles at all. It%26#039;s just a paste sort of like Orajel.
So no, it shouldn%26#039;t hurt at all. That%26#039;s what the novacaine is for, after all! Just relax, it%26#039;s not that bad. If anything it%26#039;s a relief because you%26#039;re getting those teeth out of the way!
Hope I helped! And don%26#039;t worry so much - it%26#039;s not bad at all! :)
Reply:itll hurt a lot more if you get braces, which u may have to get since u have tooth overlap. i dont have to woory of that, my babe teeth r gone =)

Dog's baby teeth will not come out, help.?
We bought a little Yorkie a year ago, she has her permanent teeth in but also still has the incisor baby teeth, poor little thing, she looks like a little alligator, we have tried to see if they are even loose with a piece of dental floss, they are not. Does anyone know approximately how much to have the vet remove these. Am afraid to even guess. She weighs about four or five pounds. Thanks much.
Dog%26#039;s baby teeth will not come out, help.?
prob not alot because of the little weight but depends who you go to
Reply:If she isn%26#039;t in pain (as much as you) leave her alone, they%26#039;ll come out when they%26#039;re ready.
Reply:hey, this happened with my dog and the teeth eventually fell out, although my dogs teeth happened one at a time, your sound like they are all there at the same time. it sounds like a problem and you should get a dentist to check it out, just get a quote from the dentist, prices vary.
Reply:You should go to the vet to have them removed...the cost varies from vet to vet of course...my guess would be between $150-$250, depending on how many teeth need to be removed it could be more. Call around to different vets to find the best deal.
And in case your wondering, the price gets so high because it usually includes office visit, anesthia, surgery and pain meds..
Reply:I have a 6 lb Yorkie-poo with the exact same problem. She has about 10 baby teeth behind her adult teeth and also looks like an alligator : ) My vet is going to pull them when she gets spayed next month and he charges $10 - $15 a tooth. However, a friend of mine said she was charged $5/ea for her pup%26#039;s teeth in Florida, so it might depend on your area. I don%26#039;t have an at home fix, but it was suggested to me to give them bully sticks as they get stringy and help loosen them. Hope that helps a little!

Baby teeth at age 9?
My sister%26#039;s little boy has not lost his baby teeth and shows no sign of doing so - he has had some other developmental delays
Has anyone had any experience with this being symptomatic of another condition
Baby teeth at age 9?
i had lost a few teeth by the time i was in first grade...but by junior high i had to get like 6 teeth pulled out. My adult teeth were there, but they just weren%26#039;t pushing through the baby teeth. And i still have one baby tooth (i%26#039;m 23 now) because there was no adult tooth to replace it, so really only the dentist can say after taking some x-rays. definitely should get him checked out.
Reply:well it takes a while to fully get grown teeth like im 11 and i still have 1 more baby tooth!
Reply:If he has no teeth coming through go see a dentist , where some exrays can be taken to see if the adult teeth are there.
Now if they are, the dentist may simply say leave it and let nature take its course, or it is possible to remove the baby teeth and then the adult may come through.
I think the best option is to see if the teeth are there with xrays.
It isnt uncommon for people to have their baby teeth into adult hood and indeed for the rest of there lives.
Reply:if the teeth doesn%26#039;t come out by age11 go see the dentist...maybe it%26#039;s a impacted tooth (meaning it%26#039;s stuck up there and it%26#039;s not coming out). he might have to go to an oral surgeon if that happens
Reply:Not really...developement is different for everyone.....you can have a doctor look into it but i don%26#039;t think it%26#039;s serious. I was really little in elementary school...the nurse sent my parents notes asking if i had a medical condition or if i%26#039;m anarexic...I%26#039;m perfectly fine.
Reply:i am 11 and i just lost my last tooth. to me, every child grows at his\her own pace. but if the child doesnt lose his last tooth by age 13, there might be something wrong and he may want to talk to a dentist.

My son still has all his baby teeth with no signs of loosening. Is this cause for concern?
My son is 7 years and 5 months old. The charts I%26#039;ve viewed say that first baby teeth typically come out between ages 6-7. This is true with all his classmates so far. He%26#039;s a healthy, active kid...this baby tooth thing is my only real concern.
One of my nephews actually had a problem in which his adult teeth grew in while his baby teeth were still in - is that sort of thing genetic? I sure don%26#039;t want my son to have to go through the stuff my nephew went through.
My son still has all his baby teeth with no signs of loosening. Is this cause for concern?
I have a seven year old son, I`m waiting for some more baby teeth to come out. He`s only lost his two bottom teeth, and they had to be pulled because his adult teeth were coming in behind them. The dentist took xrays, he said everything was fine. But I still worry.I had impacted teeth when I was a kid, and I didn`t loose all my molars until I was 15.
Reply:Take him to the dentist. The X-rays will show if the teeth are coming in properly and if he will need to have his baby teeth pulled.
It can be genetic, so take him to a dentist you trust. Most likely you have nothing to be worried about, but it is better to catch a problem early. Take him to the dentist with your concerns and be ready to pay for the full x-ray. It may be that they just aren%26#039;t ready.
I had a similar concern with my son. My son didn%26#039;t lose his until he was almost 8, but they finally did come in and I am less concerned now. (except that he grinds them, which worries me even more now)
Reply:relax. the longer he keeps the healthy baby teeth, the stronger his adult teeth will become. i%26#039;m sure the dentist has taken xrays that show the adult teeth.
Reply:It depends. I still have 2 of my baby teeth and I%26#039;m 20, lol. Those teeth have to be pulled out to put in some new teeth. And don%26#039;t worry it%26#039;s not a bad thing, many people have some of their baby teeth that don%26#039;t grow.
Reply:i was 8 years old before i lost my first baby tooth. my grandma wanted to rush me to the dr, but my mom waited it out. or maybe it was the other way around. anyway, i didn%26#039;t go to the dr, and i was ok. but, the reason i probably had that happen was because i had mercury poisoning and it caused my immune system and health to be bad:

Reply:No; there is nothing to worry about. If you have concerns regarding the fact with your nephews teeth, then go ask your son%26#039;s dentist; he will probably be able to give you a fairly accurate answer right away. I didn%26#039;t lose many of my baby teeth until I was 9 so there%26#039;s all levels of time for everyone.
Reply:Not a big deal at all. He%26#039;s 7.5, he%26#039;s just over the age bracket. Now if he was 9 or 10 I would start to worry. Most of my baby teeth fell out when my adult teeth were coming in, and they pushed them out. My teeth came in straight.
I have a friend who had to have 2 baby teeth pulled because she had no adult teeth coming in below them, and she got them pulled when she was 16-17.
I wouldn%26#039;t worry. He%26#039;s still a kid.
Reply:What did the dentist say when your son was in for his six month exam? If there was a problem I am sure the dentist would have mentioned it to you during his routine exam. If you have concerns then call the dentist and talk him/her about this.

Hereditary Dental conditions that effect baby teeth???
Does anyone know of any? Ok my husband had to get 2 teeth pulled when he was very small, his sister had a root canal at age 6. their adult teeth came in fine and no problems. not I just found out that my 3 year old daughter has 8 cavities and one is very very bad. also my husbands nephews both went to the dentist, one had to get a tooth pulled and the outher a root canal. my sister in law took her boys to the dentist 6 moths ago and their teeth were fine. My daughter brushes her teeth all the time after she eats and never eats exsessive sweets. I dont understand. I am really convinced that there is something on my husband side of the family that effects baby teeth, has anyone ever heard of such a thing, please help, this is like a mystery.
Hereditary Dental conditions that effect baby teeth???
Yes you can inherit tendencies towards bad teeth from one or both parents. Not all dentists believe this but one dentist told either my mother or my brother (can%26#039;t remember which) about this.
Reply:Ask your dentist these questions. Does your daughter drink alot of punch, tea, cokes or other sugary drinks? (A soft drink has 10 tsp. of sugar that goes into the blood stream and can rot teeth from the inside out!)
Reply:My nephew%26#039;s son had to have his baby teeth surgically removed for the same reason, and I believe surgery on his gums. They gave him a bottle with kool-aide in it a lot. Are you sure that you don%26#039;t do something similar? Make sure she has vitamins and plenty of milk to build strong teeth and bones.
Reply:it could be possible it is heridity..on the other hand i have heard people say if mother was on different types of medication for health problems for long a very time in her young age , that could also affect the childs growth in many ways including dental issues..better to consult Dr now as she is still 3 yrs.. she is still in her milk tooth..may be next set of tooth shud come up fine with Doc help

Adult teeth growing in beside baby teeth?
My 6mth old yorkiepoo Rupert, is starting to get his %26quot;big boy teeth%26quot; and on the bottom they are doubled up on each side (baby and adult side by side) Im worried and I dont want his adult teeth to grow in wonky..should I call my vet? Im making an appointment for his neutering in January...can I wait till then, and they can do it all?!
Please let me know
Thanks
Adult teeth growing in beside baby teeth?
Call the vet but also start trying to wiggle the baby teeth frequently and give your dog lots of chew toys to try and move the teeth on their own
Reply:Call your vet and ask if it can be fixed at the same time as you neuter or if he needs to go in now. They may be a bit stuck, and could cause growth problems of his adult teeth if left too long, but a vet will tell you for sure.
Reply:retaining puppy teeth is a common problem in small breeds. You should make an appt with the vet.. he may want to pull the puppy teeth while he is being neutered.
Sometimes they will fall out on their own.. but not always. If the baby teeth do not come out, it can cause the adult teeth to come in funny.
You can give him some frozen treats to try to help loosen those baby teeth in the meantime. But I would definantly still talk to the vet about it.. he will most likely want to remove any while he is already under.
Reply:my 6 month old australian shepherd is the same way!!! i always tell her she looks like a goof ball cause she has 3 extra teeth (one fell out 2 days ago.) they will fall out when they are ready. thats naturally how they grow in. sure, the vet isnt going to refuse something to make more money, but every dog ive seen that has gone from puppy to big dog their teeth grew in like that. good luck!
Reply:you definitely will want to get those baby teeth out of there.. at the clinic I work at the vets will pull the baby teeth at the time of neuter/spay.. so definitely let your vet know when you schedule the neuter that you will also need them to check for and pull all baby teeth.. if they%26#039;re not pulled and don%26#039;t fall out on their own they will cause problems later on
Reply:Make sure he has plenty of chew toys, and does lots of chewing. Nylabones are great for working out stubborn baby teeth. It%26#039;s not too late for him to work those out. My littlest Chihuahua is 7 months, and just a few weeks ago, finally lost her last 2 canines. I was getting worried was going to have to take her to have them removed. I bought her a new chicken flavored nylabone, and 3 days later, both baby teeth, that felt tightly in there before were gone!
Reply:Yes, they can neuter and remove the teeth at the same time.
The same thing happened to my Tank, Miniature Schnauzer. His vet recommended that I wait until it was time to get him fixed so that everything can be done at one time while he is under anesthesia.

Baby teeth coming out - how long!!!!!?
my son is 6 and today when eatin an apple his both bottom baby teeth are wobbling, one is really loose.
ANY ONE KNOW HOW LONG THEY TAKE TO COME OUT..
Baby teeth coming out - how long!!!!!?
My son is 7 and when his teeth go wobbly he just keeps wobbling them til they fall out I think its better this way otherwise than can eat them without knowing it swallow them in his sleep. My son just gets them out for the tooth fairy he just wants the cash the rest is just by the by lol
Reply:Pull it out!
Reply:They can take anywhere from a few days to a few months... a few seconds if you pull them. Don%26#039;t worry too much.
Reply:a quick pull to a loose tooth can remove it if you son wants tooth fairy money it will be out before bedtime !
Reply:not long ! get him to wiggle it a bit it ll soon be out don t forget to tell him about the tooth fairy!
Reply:It depends. My 6 year old lost 4 in a week!! She looked like my nan without her dentures ha ha. Also she swallowed one whilst having dinner. She cried because she said the tooth fairy wouldn%26#039;t come and then she cried more when my husband told her that she might get bitten on the bum when the tooth passed!!! MEN!!
Reply:Give him a toffee bar to chew.....make sure you check his teeth before he swallows !! (Although it is not life threatening if he does)
Reply:depends anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks

Reply:The teeth will take anything from a couple of days to a couple of weeks. I know it%26#039;s frustrating, but you have to let nature take it%26#039;s course. If the wobbly teeth don%26#039;t come out within three weeks, go to your dentist and just make sure nothing is wrong.
The first few teeth should come out more easily than later ones. but with my son I had to give in in the end and get the dentist to remove them. If the baby teeth don%26#039;t come out properly, they could prevent his adult teeth from coming through straight.
In Britain, dental care for children is still free, with the exception of orthodontic work (braces), which can cost thousands of pounds, so it is better if you consult the dentist sooner rather than later if you have any worries.
My son was convinced that ice cream was the best treatment for his hot, sore mouth while he was losing his baby teeth, but I have my doubts that his preference for this method was purely medicinal!
Reply:anyday now,but if hes anything my daughter, theyll poke and prod, just to get the money!!!and with inflation, when we were young we got 10-50p nowadays its a fiver!!!!
Reply:it depends entirely on the roots my Tommy 7 has lost 5 or 6 teeth the longest took 4 weeks as he has what the dentist calls excellent root system as they are quite thick and juicy with good blood supply ( only a dentist ) lol but wait be patient do not be tempted to pull as they can bleed heavily if yanked and infection with children touching and fingers and such like in mouth

MEN!!

Baby teeth in dachunds?
is it true if my puppys baby teeth did not come out that it will hurt her in the long run.
Baby teeth in dachunds?
Yes it will hurt them in the long run. The adult tooth will crowd in with the baby tooth and if the baby tooth does not come out on its own or is not removed then it will push the adult tooth out of allignment, often inward toward the tongue which will cause it to hit the roof of the mouth if its a bottom tooth or towards center of the bottom jaw if its an upper tooth. This is very painful and could cause infection and damage to the mouth. Tartar would also build up between the two crowded teeth and cause infections and periodontal disease in that area.
Ultimately if the baby tooth is left in place for an extended period you would probably end up having to get the adult and baby tooth removed. Usually if there is a baby tooth that has not come out by age 6 months (which is when many vets will spay or neuter them) during the spay/neuter the vet will remove them with your permission, which is definitely a good idea- that way you can save the adult tooth. It is usually the canine teeth that have that problem but it can occur with other teeth, and it is more common in small breed dogs, but can occur in cats and larger dogs as well.
Reply:The teeth should be pushed out of the way by the permanent teeth, just like human children, bu they usually aren%26#039;t left with a hole. If they don%26#039;t or you are not sure if they have or not, have your vet check her mouth. Puppies very seldom lose the tooth without the new one being right there.
Reply:my puppies teeth came out and they didn%26#039;t hurt her cuz when they fell out there was another tooth under it so it won%26#039;t hurt her and they do grow back!

Best way to clean baby teeth?
I have a 10 month old with 6 baby teeth. Although he likes to stick his toothbrush in his mouth, he hates his teeth being cleaned and just closes his mouth tightly! Any suggestions? And, how often do you need to clean a baby%26#039;s teeth?
Best way to clean baby teeth?
Chewing on a damp cloth is good. But start working towards getting the baby to cooperate. Show him how you brush your teeth. Keep up every night trying to brush his. Also, give him water to drink right before bed to rinse any sugar out of his mouth. Even baby formula contains some sugar and it is important to make sure he doesn%26#039;t go to bed with all that residue in his mouth. Patience is the best bet when dealing with a baby. He will eventually get it. Especially if you show him how you do it all the time. He will eventually want to copy you.
Reply:I used a regular face cloth on my children
Reply:Use a damp cloth before he goes to bed.
Reply:let him chew on a wet washcloth-no soap.
Reply:You can get soft toothbrush sleeves that go over the tip of your finger, you can add a tiny spot of baby toothpaste and rub over the teeth gently, works great.
They need to be cleaned at least once/twice a day

Sit yourself down (toilet seat or chair) with your child’s back towards you.
Place your child between your legs.
Place your legs around your child so that you have the child’s lower body in a control position.
Place the child’s head between your torso and your arm so that you prevent the head from moving.
Hold both of the child’s hands together in your left hand.
Pick up a soft wet toothbrush. No toothpaste is necessary at this age. Toothpaste may sting the child’s mouth, cause gagging, and even be swallowed, which is not a good idea. It is the physical act of brushing that actually sweeps the decay-carrying bacteria from the teeth and gums.
Using the heel of the brush, slide the brush between the lips and alongside the cheek. Turn brush so the bristles are against the teeth and gums, and very quickly, go back and forth, gently scrubbing the teeth and gums. If your child is crying, it may even be easier, since the mouth is already open.
This should take no more than one minute, and you can sing, laugh, or just enjoy the moment, knowing that you are doing a really good thing for your child. This is a true act of love.

or the way you brush his teeth is the reason he doesn%26#039;t wanna brush his teeth. maybe he%26#039;s hurt or your applying too much pressure. let him brush by himself, and don%26#039;t worry if he hasn%26#039;t cleaned his teeth that well. they%26#039;ll grew another tooth when they grew up.
what matters is that they learn that it is part of their grooming. that they need to brush their teeth. still, if he doen%26#039;t want to brush, just wait. sooner or later he%26#039;ll ask for his brush and toothpaste after eating a meal. you%26#039;ll be surprised.

I found that using a baby toothbrush and before I take him out of the bath on an evening I brush his teeth, it was difficult at first but I just explained to him what I was doing and why and that mammy has nice clean teeth and after about 2 weeks - All I say now is lets clean teeth and he gives me a beaming smile and shows his teeth, after a while I even put on a little toothpaste which also seemed to help.
You may find if he has another tooth coming through he will not let you near where it is coming through.
But persevere....
Reply:get one of those little baby brushes that go over your finger and get good tasting toothpaste, at least two times a day, or you could get the toothbrushes that vibrate while the brissles spin, all babies and young children love that.
Reply:try gerber grins and giggles toothpaste. it%26#039;s fruit flavored and doesn%26#039;t have flouride, so it%26#039;s ok for babies to swallow. it comes with an infant gum brush; it%26#039;s easier to use than a toothbrush and won%26#039;t slip in the mouth.

Baby teeth eruption question..?
My baby is twelve months old and has seven teeth. The first six came up in pairs as I expected. But the seventh one (a bottom incisor) broke through a couple of months ago and still no matching one on the right side. She doesn%26#039;t seem to be in pain or anything, so I am not too concerned. But isn%26#039;t this unusual?? Any ideas or websites that you can direct me too...
Baby teeth eruption question..?
That can be normal, but if it doesn%26#039;t erupt before the next one sequetially does then I would have a dentist check it out. There can be delays between teeth and come out one at a time. The order however should not vary though much.
Reply:thats fine
every kid is different
mine seemed to always be teething constantly, so be lucky she%26#039;s getting a break
ask your doctor next time you go in for your cleaning
Reply:Not unusual. Every tooth in the nouth is different. Boys are even slower than girls. I wouldn%26#039;t worry to much

Baby teeth at age 9?
My sister%26#039;s little boy has not lost his baby teeth and shows no sign of doing so - he has had some other developmental delays
Has anyone had any experience with this being symptomatic of another condition?
Baby teeth at age 9?
I knew a boy who did not loose his baby teeth until age 10. Everyone%26#039;s different, it dfepends on when and how fast adult teeth develop.
Reply:he should be fine! have your sister take him to the dentist if they say everything is ok then its alright he is just probably a little late. hope i could help
Reply:everyone is different, just make sure he has regular dental visits==every 6 months~~~~
Reply:This is totally normal/fine and actually a positive. The longer he keeps the baby teeth, the better as they usually get a few cavities.
Reply:Yes, this is quite delayed, but it%26#039;s not unheard of, especially in view of other developmental delays. It might be prudent to have a panoramic x-ray made and evaluated just to be sure everything looks like it%26#039;s on course.
Reply:My cousin had this and he had to go get the rest of them pulled out because they had not came out by age 16 but wait till your sisters little boy is like a teenager or if she is so worried about it she should take him to the dentist and he should have a consultatino with her about it if he has something wrong.
Reply:To be sure consult a dentist----
A baby tooth comes out because the permanent tooth is pushing it out. It is not uncommon for some people to keep their one or two of their baby teeth until their adulthood. This happens when there is no permanent tooth.

Braces with baby teeth?
Last year i got my braces taken off.
from what ive heard you only get braces once all your adult teeth have grown but ive only had 11 baby teeth come out and im absalutly possitive about it.so none of my molars have come out yet even though now that my braces are off.
my orthadontist did take exrays before and im sure he knew what he was doing but does this mean i might still loose teeth that will grow back skew???
Braces with baby teeth?
UR supposed to have gotten an extraction for those baby teeth by the dentist....My baby teeth was still hooked to my gums, and my adult teeth was coming out, so the baby teeth was crooked and they extracted it becuz i was getting braces.
Reply:I had two sets of braces--one for 2 years, the last for 6 mos.
Reply:it might, depends on how your back molars come in, they can come in and push the other teeth together, then again they might grow straight
Reply:No it will probaly wont.
Reply:Your either gonna get 2 sets of braces or your baby teeth taken out. =]

How to preserve baby teeth?
My little girl just lost her first tooth *sniffle*. Years ago, I read of a method to preserve baby teeth that had to do with milk if I%26#039;m remembering correctly. At the time, I didn%26#039;t have any children, so didn%26#039;t think enough of it to commit it to memory. I know that teeth crumble to dust if they%26#039;re left to chance, because I tried to keep my nieces tooth and it only lasted about 5 years.
Thanks in advance for any insight!
How to preserve baby teeth?
Q: When a child loses a baby tooth, many parents like to keep it as a memento. How are baby teeth preserved so they do not become brittle?
A: I found that a mixture of about 75 percent water and about 25 percent glycerine serves as a good medium for storing lost baby teeth. After a while, however, don%26#039;t be surprised if you open the container and it doesn%26#039;t smell very pleasant! See if your dentist will sterilize the teeth before you preserve them.
Teeth become brittle as they dehydrate. Even in the mouth, after a root canal is performed, teeth lose their %26quot;hydration%26quot; internally because they lose the blood vessels which help nourish them. They are more brittle and prone to fracture. This is why it is usually recommended to put a crown on a tooth after a root canal.
Reply:my mom has my 26 year old sisters first teeth that have fallen out. They havent %26quot;crumbled to dust%26quot; i think it takes quite some time. They do look quite disguisting though
Reply:You don%26#039;t need to do anything ........just put them in a baby food jar or a baggie.
The milk thing is........if she happens to knock a tooth out root and all.........the dentist may be able to put it back in.........you place it in milk until you can get her to the dentist.

Boston Terrier Baby Teeth are not falling out at 7 months. Is this normal?
My Boston Terrier still has his baby teeth while the adult teeth are growing in. The vet says he is a %26quot;late bloomer%26quot; and this is normal, however, his teeth are getting all crooked. I think my vet is wrong... is he??
Boston Terrier Baby Teeth are not falling out at 7 months. Is this normal?
No,not %26quot;normal/average%26quot;.
Most are shed by 5 months %26amp; yes, stubborn baby-teeth CAN interfere w/proper adult dentition.
Does it need dental work? Probably not. Can you wiggle the leftovers? Then they%26#039;ll come out OK. IF adult teeth are IN with others stiil hanging on,then you probably will need to pull em
Reply:Yup, like your vet said, it%26#039;s normal. Some breeds are late bloomers. My friend%26#039;s Shih Tzu is coming 8 mths old %26amp; he still has baby teeth.
Reply:No, it%26#039;s not normal and Yes, your vet is wrong. Take him to another vet and have the baby teeth pulled before they damage the adult teeth.

Retained Baby Teeth?
My 6 month old pom is retaining her baby teeth while the adult teeth are growing in-behind. She can get them pulled when she gets spayed in a couple weeks but is there anything i can do to help encourage them to fall out before then? Wiggle them? Give her a certain kind of bone? I read cutting the tips off doesn%26#039;t hurt and it causes them to fall out :S Any suggestions?
Retained Baby Teeth?
Just leave them alone. You can do more harm than good. They are in there tight and it would hurt your pup.
Reply:well first ask your vet but give her bones a lot to get the teeth out and you are giving her dry food right?
Reply:Don%26#039;t try to wiggle them or pull them out; you%26#039;ll do more damage than good.
Instead, encourage her to chew on things. Plush toys, chew bones, a tennis ball, etc. Using her teeth will help the baby teeth fall out.
Reply:Just barely had my 10 month old shih tzu spayed 3 weeks ago. Also had her retained baby teeth removed at that time. When I checked with my vet a few weeks prior, I asked the same questions you did. He pointed out to me that because the teeth were NOT loose or showing any inclination towards coming out on their own, that to mess with them could damage the root of the permanent tooth. I (jokingly) accused him of just wanting the extra money so he did it free of charge!
Between the spaying, tooth removal (5) and microchipping, my girl was back home within four hours. She ate that evening like nothing had happened! Good luck with your baby!
Reply:leave them alone. Seriously you are going to want to be able to do dental care with your dog, so don%26#039;t be a pain in her mouth now. The teeth can come out when she%26#039;s asleep, and she won%26#039;t have issues about you sticking your fingers in her mouth and causeing discomfort.

Retained Baby Teeth?
Just leave them alone. You can do more harm than good. They are in there tight and it would hurt your pup.

Do untreated baby cavities affect new teeth coming in?
my daughters baby teeth have had a few cavities which we had filled but now the fillings are thinning and her baby teeth are now exposed. She is 6 now tho and i was curious to know if she loses hew molars soon, will the cavities affect her new set of teeth coming through? Thanks!
Do untreated baby cavities affect new teeth coming in?
Baby molars are usually shed some time after 10 years of age.. If they are lost prematurely, the other teeth may drift and space in the arch for the permanent premolars to come in may be lost, resulting in crooked teeth.
That%26#039;s why it%26#039;s important to keep baby teeth healthy all the way up until their shedding.
Reply:ABSOLUTELY!!!!!
Reply:I think so.
Reply:If the decay goes below the gum line it can migrate to the new adult teeth and rot them before they emerge.

I still have baby teeth at 16?
Umm I was just wondering if this was still normal. All 4 of my back molars are still baby teeth and (1 on both sides of the top and 1 on both sides at the bottom). And then my top canine teeth are still baby teeth but I noticed the other day that both of my canines are a little loose. I%26#039;m hoping this is just normal. Anybody have any ideas?

It is possible, some people retain their deciduous teeth when the permanent doesn%26#039;t form. You may be mistaken with your molars, you should have had the second molar erupt by now, but it could be a little late. Check the eruption chart at the site I%26#039;ve listed and discuss this with your dentist, he will be able to tell you exactly what you have and where the permanent teeth are.

Reply:For me I still had a baby tooth until I was about 25. I did not have an adult tooth underneath it so it was never pushed out. I have a cousin who also had baby teeth in her twenty%26#039;s. I don%26#039;t think it is anything to worry about just ask your dentist next time you go.
Reply:The four back molars are normal. They are supposed to stay there and not fall out. But as for the canines, some people are born without any adult teeth, they only have baby teeth. So you might have been born with only baby teeth where your canine teeth are. You might have to get them pulled. Hope this helps.
Reply:Hi. I am 16 and I have very small teeth. My cousin who is only 8 years old have bigger front teeth than mine. My dentist told me that I have very short teeth and I can cut some of my gum to make my teeth long longer, which will look nicer. I think it%26#039;s normal though. Also, I have 2 vampire teeth that are very sharp and small.
Reply:Yup its normal.
Reply:I had a baby tooth until I was 13. Wait! I still am 13. It%26#039;s Ok. Some people are slower developers.
Get an X-ray just to make sure that those adult teeth are formed!

Reply:I would go to your dentist and get an xray, you could have an impaction, or the tooth could not have formed. It`s you to you what you want to do with the results either way, but an impaction is not what you want to hear. Impaction, ( tooth formed in the wrong spot ), I had one of my canines impacted and the had to expose it and drag it down with wires and braces......VERY PAINFUL!!!! It was impacted in my pallet. It might be something simple for you, like the tooth never formed, BUT get it checked!!!!!!
